Into the Woods

So it was my hubby's birthday last month. It was a big one. We wont discuss the number- it doesn't matter, but lets just say I wanted to celebrate it because really- when do we ever throw adult birthday parties? Never. So I decided it was a great reason to celebrate my guy and show him I adore him and his mountainy wilderness-ness.

It was totally Sean- wilderness, camping and hunting- but done with a little modern twist (ok-that aspect was a little more me than him).  I love the plaid with the blue, white and yellow. The wood and deer elements were fun too. I painted the two deer silhouettes for the backdrop and made the deer head too! I was pretty excited about how it turned out, because I literally thought it was going to be a disaster; free handing with the box cutter, but somehow it worked!   I made apple tree cupcakes and "worms in the mud" brownies and there were "Blue Moon" York candy pieces. From the white chocolate owl pops, to the acorns and my favorites- the hedgehogs, the dessert table was a hit. But before we devoured the desserts we had Hamburgers and hot dogs, "Field Greens" salad, "Fresh Picked Berries", and baked beans.

"Grazing Station" before
and after...

I literally cut, by hand each piece of cardboard for this deer head. I still cannot believe it actually fit together and looked that awesome!

 The Watering Hole:
I created custom lables for Seans favorite beer which read, "Bradford Mountian Brew" and "Wild Fox White" for the white wine, and "Bear Zinfindel" for the red wine. I loved these labels and it was also fun because Sean's gift from me was a whole brewing system so he can experiment with brewing himself! And he already has his own label :-)

I made a little photo banner with pictures of Sean's childhood. There were pictures of him fishing, camping and playing in the woods with his parents. So cute and everyone loved seeing him as a little guy. He was adorable; and clearly, the woods and camping were a big part of his childhood.

One of my favorite details. I heart hedgehogs.

I had a couple little activities for the kids; they went "hunting" for camouflage eggs- which ending up being pretty tricky to find! Then they took their best shot with the bow and arrow. It was really fun.

"Hunting"

After dinner and dessert we had a Smore's station!
On the Smore's banner hung a picture of Sean roasting marshmallows by the campfire with his mom and one with his dad.

My Mountain Man/Birthday boy took care of the fire- obviously.

I found another little boy who loves S'mores- just like his daddy!

Such a fun party and theme for a Mountain Man!
