Dora the Explorer Birthday

Emmy the Explorer turns 2!

She LOVES Dora. She sings the songs, knows all the characters, and frequently tells me Dora Dora is  her "fav-it." So naturally, we had to have a Dora party for her! She was so excited! We decided with everything going on right now, to have a small family party at my sister's house. I still had to make it cute though. It is my job after all. :-) My most favorite piece I did was the Chalkboard "Milestones" sign. I just love it because it really captures her in this little stage of her life.

She loved everything about her party and didn't want to move from this spot! She was showing us she is two years old!

Since it was almost Cinco de Mayo too, there was no shortage of "Fiesta" decor, including the mini sombreros on the drink bottles, that very quickly made their way to the kids heads. They loved it! Purple and Orange soda for the kids with Emmy the Explorer labels, and "Maps Margaritas" for the adults! Ole!

Emmy knows and loves all of the characters in Dora the Explorer, so I made all the food signs with each little character. We started with "The Fiesta Trio's Chips, Salsa & Guacamole"! Then we had "Tico's Taco Bar", "Benny's Beans", and "Isa's Rice" for our Carne Adada Bar.

For "Dora's Desserts" we had Purple Lemonade Cheesecakes,  "Boot's Banana Bites," "Diego's Rescued Animals," and "Swiper's Snickerdoodle Churros."

For the dessert table I used my handmade fabric flag banner, the letter "E" that I wrapped in yarn and decorated with the felt flowers that I made, and spray painted the wooden frame pink!

I used the high chair tutu that I made and I added the "One" banner to it.

These were such a hit! They are "Pink Lemonade Cheesecakes" topped with homemade whipped cream and a fresh raspberry! It was almost 100 degrees, so I was nervous about the desserts melting, but they were fine! I was so glad!

I used my great grandmother's cheesecake recipe that I always make  but I altered the recipe a bit to include fresh squeezed lemon juice, lemon zest, and the sour cream layer even had a little lemon curd in it! It turned out really tasty! A new family favorite!

This is one of my favorite details, the "Emmalise" banner with pictures of her from newborn, each month until one year!

Hoop Art with her name and birthday!

I made these cupcake toppers thinking I was going to make cupcakes but then decided on the cheesecakes, so I just made some Ghirardelli brownies to stick them in!

I made sugar cookies and decorated to look like circus pink and white cookies (although I made them pink and yellow). I also decorated little onsies with "1"s and "E"s. I made the cake stands last year for Claire's party!
